Being a parent in the age of the Internet is a challenging role. The Internet has changed our lifestyle greatly with the amount of information and services that are at our fingertips. Unfortunately the freedom of the Internet is being exploited by unscrupulous criminals that would take advantage of our children. This is compounded by the fact that in most cases children know more about the Internet and spend more time on-line than their parents. If your child asked for permission to go to an unchaperoned party where pornographic videos were being viewed and was attended by anyone, regardless of there age or criminal background, what would be your reaction? One of shock and horror I would imagine! The fact is that children that have unsupervised access to the Internet are exposed to all of those threats and more. This section was designed to help parents gain the knowledge needed to protect their children from predators or anyone that would try to exploit them on-line. |
